Sheridan and Robert Plumb’s Story
What was your first impression or memory of the Nick Finnegan Counseling Center?
My first memory of NFCC was when the St. Luke’s Center for Counseling and Life Enrichment actually became the Nick Finnegan Counseling Center in memory of Nick Finnegan. I adore the Finnegan family. My {Sheridan’s} little brother, Michael, died a week before Nick in 2004. Our families were drawn together through our loss. It was so special for them to revive a wonderful center in Nick’s honor and memory.
What do you wish other people knew about NFCC or mental health counseling?
Mental health counseling is something that we should not turn away from. It is so important. I think there is a stigma surrounding counseling and mental health illnesses. NFCC is available for people going through loss, trauma, depression, addiction and anxiety. It provides group therapy, individual, marriage and family counseling. It is also available to people who might not otherwise be able to afford counseling thanks to the generous support and donations!
Talk about your experience chairing our annual Crawfish Boil fundraiser in 2014.
The Crawfish Boil is a great event because it is fun for all ages. It gives friends of Nick and younger adults a great opportunity to contribute in a meaningful and fun way! We decided to chair the event because it was a fun way for us to give back to an important and meaningful organization.
What motivates you to stay involved with NFCC?
Our love for the Finnegan family and the important work that NFCC offers to the community!
