How did you get involved with NFCC?

We got to know the organization through friends who were close to the Finnegans and just going to events like the Crawfish Boil and the Gala. As we got to know more about both the organization’s origin story and NFCC’s ongoing mission, it resonated and felt like something that both had a personal connection but also a mission we cared about and wanted to give back to.

As Gala host committee members, tell us more about the event and why you keep attending.
The Tree of Life Gala is NFCC’s largest fundraiser and is a wonderful event. Not only does it raise money for an incredible cause, it is a great place to witness the community that supports NFCC come to life and learn more about how NFCC impacts our city and the people who benefit from the organization’s work.

In your opinion, what is the most important work NFCC does?
Providing support to those in need, particularly in an area of healthcare that can be overlooked. In many cases counseling supports people in periods of life when they are at their most vulnerable. NFCC’s mission to provide those services in an affordable and approachable way is critical.

Why do you choose to support mental healthcare over other causes?
We have both had different experiences with mental health and have seen the benefits that counseling can have on us and those closest to us.

Why is mental health important to you? What do you do to take care of your own mental health?
Mental health is something that is easier not to talk about, but life inevitably has its ups and downs, and we have found being open with our own struggles helps us manage through challenging times.
