James Blackwell is a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern*. He was born and raised in Houston, attended the University of Texas at Austin to acquire his bachelor’s degree in English literature, and then attended the University of Houston to acquire his master’s degree in counseling. James draws from elements from a number of different modalities, specifically cognitive behavioral therapy, person-centered therapy, and narrative therapy. He works with clients ages 11 and older. James takes great pride in his work and believes that each person is capable of self-actualization and change to the degree they are willing to invest in the therapeutic experience. He has experience working with individuals and couples. James has a passion for learning and perfecting his craft. Accordingly, he is currently being trained in EMDR, a therapeutic modality focused on treating trauma in its many forms.
